Is a Class 1 rating considered the same as explosion proof, as listed in the catalog?

Class 1 means there is explosive gas present in an area; the chance of gas being present will be classified as Division 1, always present, or Division 2, not normally present but has a chance of being in the area due to an accidental leakage.  Class 1 explosionproof needs further clarification if it's either in a division 1 area or division 2 area before recommending equipment for that area.
